Connections Hint Today

Sixteen words, four hidden groups. Reveal one group at a time — yellow first, purple last — and keep the rest of the puzzle unsolved for yourself.

Before you reveal anything

  • The groups below come out in the game's own difficulty order: yellow, green, blue, purple.
  • A group's title is the answer to that group — reveal a group only when you would rather know it than keep guessing.
  • Stuck but not beaten? Look for words that can share a prefix or follow the same word; purple groups love that trick.
Group 1 · Yellow
Group 2 · Green
Group 3 · Blue
Group 4 · Purple

Playing Connections well

The board is built with decoys: words that seem to belong together but belong apart. The reliable method is to find the group you are most certain of and submit only that, however long it takes — and to treat every "one away" as information, not failure. Our Wordle vs Connectionscomparison explains the two games' different kinds of thinking.

Frequently asked questions

How does this Connections hint page work?

It reveals one group at a time, starting with the most straightforward — the order the game itself uses (yellow, green, blue, purple). Nothing is shown until you ask for it: the category titles and the words are not on the page until you tap Reveal.

What do the Connections colours mean?

Each group has a difficulty colour. Yellow is the most direct link, then green, then blue, and purple is the most oblique — often wordplay, like words that can follow the same prefix.

How many mistakes can you make in Connections?

Four. A submission that contains three words from one group returns a 'one away' warning; anything else costs one of your four mistakes.

Is this page affiliated with The New York Times?
